Southern Cross Healthcare provides care homes and nursing homes for the elderly with a friendly and welcoming environment.
Our focus is our service users and their families. Our aim is to run each of our residential and nursing homes as a family unit - to create a “homely” feeling that our service users can feel safe and comfortable in.
Our holistic approach to care emphasises the importance of social interaction and activities. Our people are very experienced at listening, understanding and responding to the needs of service users.
Our people are central to the service we provide in our residential and nursing homes. We know the best care comes from a motivated and knowledgeable team. We are totally committed to giving our people the training and opportunities they need to help them deliver the standards of care and nursing we demand.
We set ourselves high standards in every aspect of the care we give service users in our nursing homes. We never forget our service users are individuals and we treat them with respect and dignity at all times.
What ever the type of care you or your loved one requires, you can rest assured, we will do our best for you.

Smiling CoupleOver the last 12 months the company has grown significantly – largely due to the integration of the Asbourne group of homes.
Our history reflects our ambitious growth plans. The company has expanded rapidly since 1997 through a series of acquisitions and new developments. These have included the Ultima portfolio of 39 homes in April 2001 and the Trinity portfolio of 26 homes in February 2002.
In August 2003, the current management backed by West Private Equity and Healthcare Investments Limited, acquired Southern Cross through a management buy-out (“MBO”.) This was followed in September by a secondary buy-out of the business by the current management together with Blackstone Capital Partners.
In February 2005, the current management together with Blackstone Capital Partners, acquired the Highfield Care Portfolio of 190 homes from NHP. In November 2005 Southern Cross completed the acquisition of the leasehold interest of the Ashbourne Group of care homes. The acquisition of Ashbourne added 10,000 beds to our portfolio.
