Rainham Steel was formed in April 1973 by Bill Ives. It is now the UK’s foremost independent Steel Stockholder and Distributor. The company specialises in the supply of Universal Beams, Universal Columns, Channels, Angles, Large Flats and Structural Hollow Sections to major Steel Fabricators, Stockholders, Construction Companies, Civil Engineers and Builders Merchants.
Rainham Steel operates from its head office based in Rainham, Essex and a satellite sales office based in Bury near Manchester together with its distribution depots located in Rainham and Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire.
The main distribution facility for the company, which houses all of the structural sections and structural hollow sections, is based in Scunthorpe, North Lincolnshire. The site was opened in September 2002, and is widely recognised as one of the most modern, safe and efficient steel distribution depots in Europe. The flagship 55 acre site was primarily chosen for its locality to the nearby British Steel mills, as well as offering ease of access to the dock facilities for imports and exports.
