Working for the Business Intelligence Manager, this transformational role will take the technical lead in the transition to the Microsoft Azure platform for BI Data Management. Responsible for the development and delivery of data into the Azure SQL Data Warehouse, this role must combine the technical capability to analyse and understand the data in the Azure Data Lake Store and define the logic and processes to transform this into the business facing Azure SQL Data Warehouse. Excellent communication is essential to lead both Business and Technical stakeholders through this Strategic change.

The position is a role within the Chubb International BI team that is responsible for Data management and Information delivery across CHUBB globally. The team is governed and managed by strong Finance, Operations and IT stakeholders with vested interest in the company’s core values. The adoption of the Azure platform aligns with the Global IT strategies on Digital Transformation and Cloud.

This is a key and challenging role which requires sound understanding and experience of Data Warehousing and the Azure platform. The role is central to the team and requires individuals to think laterally and understand intricacies between source systems and data that bring them together. The role requires experience of working directly with internal SME’s both business and technical and delivery through outsourced delivery teams.

Key responsibilities

  • Understand the data and information requirements of BI stakeholders that make Chubb a data driven organisation
  • Data analysis of the Data Lake and underlying source systems
  • Design and develop the schemas and ETL processes for the transformation into the SQL Data Warehouse
  • Provide technical leadership in the use of Microsoft Azure platform for Business Intelligence
  • Define and implement best practices for BI delivery on the Azure platform including advanced performance optimisation
  • Support IT and Business leadership to deliver the BI Data Strategy
  • Skills & Experience


  • 6-10 years of overall IT experience with strong communication skills and ability to learn quickly on the job
  • 5+ year’s experience with Data Warehouse, ETL & BI platforms, with a deep understanding of DW strategy, architecture and structures
  • Experience working on onshore-offshore model
  • Candidates must have an advanced knowledge on Azure data services - Data Lake store, Data Factory V2, SQL DW, COSMOS DB
  • Hands on experience working with MPP DB architecture and skilled in writing TSQL stored procedures, views, functions for SQL DW
  • Good understanding of spark internals and experience in Spark coding with Python/Scala; Experience working with Azure data bricks is an advantage
  • Hands on experience developing complex Azure data factory pipelines to copy/transform data between azure data services
  • Good understanding of NoSQL DB/Cosmos and experience designing document schema , devising partitioning & indexing strategy, querying document collection
  • Experience in high level languages like C# or Python is nice to have
  • Experience of working in an agile cross-functional delivery team working with product owners, solution analysts, solution architects and test analysts
  • Experience of working in a Global delivery organisation with geographically distributed business teams and a multiple vendor outsourcing delivery model
  • An interest in taking ownership of projects, evangelising data driven culture and a passion for technology
  • Desirable

  • Experience of working within financial services, preferably the Insurance sector
  • Understanding of both financial, management and operational reporting
  • Ability to understand complex business processes, BI modelling and marts.
  • Experience in global IT systems and business consolidation efforts.
