Job Description

At Cotton Traders, we’re passionate about a lot of things – our customers, our product and our heritage to name a few. But most importantly, we’re passionate about our people – those who march into our stores and offices each and every day with big smiles and kind hearts.

We were founded over 30 years ago by Fran & Steve, colossus leaders both on and off the rugby field. And since then, we’ve worked tirelessly to instil those sporting roots into our values, which include behaving as One Team, with Respect & Openness and to Strive for Better.

So for us as a multi-channel business, fitting into this unique culture is paramount. Being part of a small Finance team, we help each other like family and are proud of our stable and successful reputation amongst colleagues. Day to day, you’ll have overall responsibility for cash flow management within the business, managing detailed reconciliations across our various trading lines.

The day job can vary as much as the British weather so you’ll need to be agile and look for opportunity in everything you do. But we’ll talk to you about this should you be successful on application and be invited to interview.

As a heads-up from us, to you, here’s some of the “traditional stuff” that you’d be doing in your Finance role with us …

Banking transactions within the business, including responsible for daily bank reconciliations for Home Shopping and Retail and 3rd party receipts, e.g. Amazon and Paypal
Cash flow management, including monthly forecasting and updating daily cash flows
Managing USD contracts and paying suppliers
Reviewing customer orders to ensure efficient dispatching

There are also some core basics to being one of our Assistant Accountants which should help you decide if you want to pursue a career with us. These include:-

Experience in cash flows, automated reconciliations & supplier payments
Experience of dealing with USD’s
To be familiar with process mapping
To have an understanding of SAP
Outstanding Microsoft Excel skills
To be confident in communicating with colleagues, customers and suppliers
A great attitude to work and be a team player
A background in home shopping or retail is desirable

We pride ourselves on being an employer of choice, supporting our people in every aspect of their work and sometimes, when it’s not even about work. Our culture is unique and while we look for experience when recruiting into roles, it’s far from the only measure of success. So feel free to send us a CV, but equally tell us about yourself and why you’d like to join our family. You are more than just words on a page so if you’re interested in our vacancy, let us know what you’d like us to know about you.

And in return, if you are successful in joining our team you’ll be rewarded with a range of benefits that include:-

33 days holiday (including bank holidays)
Company bonus scheme
Employee healthcare and Assistance Programme
Holiday Purchase Scheme
25% staff discount
Long service awards
Plus much, much more

We look forward to receiving your application.
