Applications are invited for a substantive or fixed term Consultant Medical Oncologist at Yeovil District Hospital NHS Foundation Trust. The successful candidate will join a friendly, enthusiastic and innovative team, working with two other Medical Oncologist along with visiting Consultant Oncologists from neighbouring Musgrove Park Hospital in Taunton.
The directorate is seeking a part time (7.5PA) candidate to provide oncology services to Yeovil in at least 2 tumour sites. Consideration will be given to candidates wishing to work full-time and job share opportunities would also be considered. Yeovil District Hospital Oncology Unit is CHKS accredited has enjoyed a stable and successful history; trusted and respected by our patients, staff and commissioners and attracted national interest in our iCARE model, which has established the principles of exemplary patient care experience within our hospital. Yeovil District Hospital NHS consistently performs well in the National Patient Experience Survey for Cancer Services. Our chemotherapy services are CHKS accredited. There are many opportunities for the successful candidate to develop services further, based on personal interest and skills.
The role will include provision of outpatient clinics, attendance at relevant MDTs and also support the well-established Acute Oncology Service. Yeovil District General Hospital NHS Foundation Trust participates in a wide number of research and clinical trials, and the successful candidate will have plenty opportunities to further their research interest. There will be no on-call commitment, as out of hours advice is provided by on-call consultant colleagues in Taunton. The post-holder will experience significant professional and governance peer support from The Beacon Centre at Musgrove Park Hospital enjoying all the benefits of close working with our nearby regional cancer centre.
Yeovil District Hospital is a modern hospital in pleasant countryside only two hours from London and less than one hour from both the Jurassic and North Devon coast. There are excellent facilities in a purpose built Education Centre on-site. Substantial parking on-site in a new multi-story car park.
Applicants must have MBBS and MRCP qualifications or equivalent and be fully registered with the GMC and hold a licence to practise.
Applicants must also have entry on the GMC Specialist Register for Medical or Clinical Oncology via CCT (proposed CCT date must be within six months of the interview date), CESR or European Community Rights. Interested candidates with a proposed CCT date beyond six months are still advised to discuss the post.
