Job Description

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King's Lynn NHS Foundation Trust

This exciting post has become available following the retirement of the previous post-holder.

The successful candidate will be part of an enthusiastic and friendly multidisciplinary team comprising Consultants, a Middle Grade doctor and Specialist Nurses. Currently the funded medical establishment for the neurology department is 3.18 WTE Consultants (with a business case for a further post in preparation) and 0.45 WTE Specialty Doctor.

As well as providing general neurological services, the department runs clinics for the following sub-specialties: Epilepsy, Migraine (both Botox and Nerve Block injection clinics), Motor Neurone Disease and Parkinson’s Disease.

Initially the post will be offered on a contract for 10 Programmed Activities per week including 8 PAs for direct clinical care and 2 PAs for supporting professional activities.

There is the potential to increase this to a 12PA contract to reflect the development of a special interest or additional direct clinical sessions. The job plan will be reviewed after 3 months in post.

The Queen Elizabeth Hospital King’s Lynn (QEH) is an established, fully equipped 488 bed general hospital on the outskirts of King’s Lynn, Norfolk. The hospital is only 6 miles from the Sandringham Estate and around a 30 minute drive from the North Norfolk coast, a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB).

The hospital provides healthcare services to West and North Norfolk in addition to parts of Breckland, Cambridgeshire and South Lincolnshire. The population of this area is approximately 331,000 people. The population profile includes a high proportion of older residents; however, new housing developments in recent years have seen large population growth of principally young families. The Trust provides a comprehensive range of specialist acute, obstetrics and community-based services. The Trust works with neighbouring hospitals for the provision of tertiary services and is part of regional partnership and network models of care, such as the trauma network.
