Paediatric Dental Specialist - Maternity Cover
The Canterbury District Health Board systematically plan, fund and deliver care to almost 600,000 people that live in the Canterbury region. The Canterbury Health System is a world leader in the delivery of integrated health care. Our main focus is placing people (staff and patients alike) at the centre of everything we do.
The Hospital Dental Service is a large team of 57 staff including Dental Specialists, Dental Officers, Dental House Officers and Clinical Dental Technicians all being supported by a large team of Dental Assistants and Administrative staff.
Two paediatric dental specialists and two senior dentists provide treatment to children under sedation or general anaesthetic. With more than 1,200 paediatric referrals received each year, being organised and being able to manage a high volume of patients is important. The paediatric dental team at Hospital Dental Service provides specialist level clinical care for children and adolescents with chronic medical and orofacial problems that may preclude them from receiving routine dental care elsewhere.
We are looking for a Paediatric Dental Specialist to join our team on a full time, fixed term, 12-month maternity leave basis starting March 2020.
The patient group at Christchurch Hospital includes children who are medically compromised, have special needs, and/or congenital or acquired malformations of orofacial, anxiety or complex dental trauma or severe dental caries requiring comprehensive dental treatment under conscious sedation or general anaesthetic.
This is a full time; fixed term position and we are interested to hear from Paediatric Dental Specialists or Dental Officers with experience in paediatric dentistry.
To be considered for this position you must be eligible for registration with the Dental Council of New Zealand and able to practice dentistry in New Zealand as a Specialist or Dental Officer.
