Salary £33,000 to £38,000 based on experience,

An exciting opportunity has arisen within our team to recruit a practice based pharmacist.

We are looking for a self-motivated, dynamic and enthusiastic person who would like to make a change in general practice.

We are an ambitious practice with 11,100 patients, 5 GP partners, 2 salaried GPs and 3 ANPs, supported by a very enthusiastic and friendly nursing, administrative and managerial team. We are becoming a GP registrar training practice in August 2019 and we are already involved in undergraduate training and provide regular mentorship for various health professionals.

We are highly dedicated to providing the best care possible and therefore we feel that a clinical pharmacist will enhance our clinical team and contribute greatly to patients’ holistic care.

Person’s specifications:

UK recognised pharmacist qualification and registration with GPhC - essential

Prescribing qualification or Clinical/Community Diploma – desirable

Previous experience from general practice - desirable, but not essential.


Job type:

Full time post, however 2 part time posts as a job share could be negotiated for the right candidates

Requirements of the post:

We expect the post holder(s) to work constructively with the practice team as well as the patients dealing with

-acute and repeat medication requests, discharges from hospital and outpatient requests for prescriptions

-medication reviews including simplifications and cost-effective switches

-care home medication reviews

-providing guidance and leadership to the prescribing team and support to the whole team in prescribing matters.

There is also potential for further development of the role in other clinical areas such as DMARD and INR clinics, participation in INR star clinics and participation in mentoring and training of various health professionals.
