Are you a talented engineer with experience in drug delivery or related fields, looking to further develop your career in a leadership role with in an innovation-based environment? If so then we have the perfect opportunity for you!

Our in-house Innovation team consists of around 40 colleagues working in partnership with internal and external customers to create the next generation of drug delivery devices and bring new ideas to market.

You will sit within our leadership team and manage a portfolio of innovation opportunities that support our strategic objectives ensuring pharmaceutical requirements are integrated in all product development activities. The primary purpose of this role is to lead the early development activities and feasibility studies for clients from early concept stage right through to manufacture for patient use.

As a key member of the leadership team you will be jointly responsible for agreeing the direction of the group, implementing Innovation strategy and managing resource. This will include:

  • Being a champion for open innovation playing a senior role in its evolution within the group
  • Leadership for several complex multi-discipline product development project
  • Identification of technical challenges and opportunities
  • Creation of novel technologies that address challenges and realise these opportunities
  • Establish and maintain external and internal client relationships
  • Provide expert guidance to the group and wider company on pharmaceutical development processes
  • To be successful in this role we’re looking for you to have the following skills, experience and knowledge:

  • Pharmaceutical and / or medical device experience development / manufacture
  • Experience of managing multi-functional teams at senior level
  • Experience within Innovation gained within a similar industrial environment.
  • Experience of working with R&D functions within a pharmaceutical company
  • Experience with Programme Management and project budgets
  • Strong influencing / communication skill and ability to guide and motivate others
