Overall Job Purpose

This role is required to cover for the Head of Healthcare Systems during maternity leave for a period of 12 to 18 months. The Department Head is responsible for Strategic direction, management of the technology roadmap and implementation of Vitality’s platform to support the organization's objectives through achieving flexible and cost effective enterprise-wide operations. A high level of process improvement including business process integration and automation.

Accountabilities

Understand the IT Manco KPIs for the year and engage with HOD peers to achieve shared KPIs and targets
Accountable for on- and offshore delivery teams of up to 150 resources at any one time
Work hand in hand with the Head of Partner and Rewards in partnership for consistency and co-management of the joint delivery teams. Understanding significant dependencies and management controls.
Manage Technical Management Team to ensure efficient, flexible, scalable and extensible services are designed and delivered
Ensure Vitality Governance and Development Standards are adhered to and evidenced across both internal and 3rd party partner teams
Own, build and roll out new functional modules that are superseding the current monolithic components. Build on the new Micro-Services platform provided by the CTO’s team
Drive critical component design decisions across working teams
Optimize internally for extensibility and enabling development teams to operate quickly
Work to drive decisions through a crisp decision-making process and framework
Drive adoption of DevOps and Agile methods and techniques across the Department
Working closely with the Portfolio Change Function, contribute to annual and quarterly planning cycles, scheduling, resourcing and RAID Management
Oversight and Approval of Monthly and Annual Financial Planning and Reconciliation for the Department
Own the implementation of the IT People Strategy Level One Maturity through the Management Team and the Department across the year
Meet with key partners, internal teams and 3rd party partners in joint design and development efforts while being able to articulate road map and product architecture.
Engage with business stakeholders and product forums and owners to ensure product and technical road maps are delivered with accuracy, efficiency and collaboratively to ensure necessary operational defects and technical debt items are delivered to address any key risk items.
Engage is Management and Exec Steering Committees to drive projects and non-project change appropriately
Ensure that the systems are built to architecture and DevOps standards
Ensure that the systems are well maintained and Tech Debt is retired timeously or made obsolete through the new components.

Skills Required

Experience

Skilled in leading design and development teams.
Led teams in development & deployment on-premise as well as across multiple cloud providers, such as Amazon Web Services, Microsoft Azure, Google Cloud.
Experience designing complex product technologies and initiatives from concept through release.
Demonstrated excellence in written and verbal communications.
Regularly demonstrates teamwork by promoting others’ ideas, influencing others, and making teams successful.
Act as a mentor for junior members of the team.
Able to collaborate and thrive in a dynamic environment.
Recommends and maintains technical design methodologies, processes and standards
Participates on multi-functional design teams to develop expertise in other modules/systems
Engages with Product Management to drive detailed product requirements
