Our Retail business is headquartered from Crewe and is the UK's largest off licence operator with a growing convenience offer under our fascias of Bargain Booze, Wine Rack, Select Convenience and Central Convenience - all with over 600 stores nationwide!

We now have an exciting opportunity for an experienced People ER & Policy Partner to join our fast paced People Team based in Crewe, reporting to our Lead People & ER Partner on a FTC to cover maternity leave. In this role you will be responsible for the provision of commercially astute Employee Relations and Policy advice over the telephone and face to face, whilst supporting and coaching line managers on all aspects of the employee life cycle. You will also get the opportunity to get involved in wider People Team activities and projects as part of our overarching People Strategy and Plans.

Day to day you will be working closely with our People Services Team and People Business Partners as well as supporting our colleagues, managers and franchisees.



Person Specification

As an ideal candidate you will have experience in:

  • Working within a commercial and cost conscious multi-site Retail company or similar type organisation, ideally in a unionised environment.
  • A confident and proficient ER & Policy adviser, used to managing a high volume ER case load within set SLA's and KPI's in a HR shared service function.
  • Taking ownership for producing legally compliant correspondence (i.e. investigation reports and outcome letters).
  • You will be able to build effective working relationships with your customers, colleagues and stakeholders.
  • You will be used to writing, maintaining, updating and implementing effective people policies, processes and procedures and continuously improving these.
  • You will be required to support the People Business Partnering Team on a wide range of HR Projects and change activities.
  • Strong experience of providing accurate and insightful people information and metrics, often from basic, raw data, from multiple sources into robust reporting and data analytics from which you analyse and make recommendations for improvement.
  • A confident facilitator able to support with training and development interventions in areas such as people management skills training.
  • Able to coach and support wider team members with their development.

  • You will possess CIPD Level 5 as a minimum, working towards or qualified through equivalent experience in a similar type role.
  • You will thrive in an environment of teamwork, agility and customer excellence and be keen to support and develop others as well as yourself.
