Job Title: Pre and Post-Anaesthesia/Recovery Nurse for Private Fertility Clinic

Salary - Up to £42,000

Hours - Full Time

Location - Central London

Key Working Relationships:

All members of the theatre team, medical staff and other professionals allied to medicine

Job Summary:

a) To act at all times in accordance with the Human Fertilisation & Embryology Authority (HFEA) Code of Practice.

b) To keep abreast of the latest developments with regard to the HFEA, CQC, MHRA, HSE, Data Protection (GDPR) /ICO.

c) Comply with IPC/HSE regulatory requirements in regards health and safety of the Theatre/Ward area.

d) To work according to the Nursing and Midwifery Council of Professional Conduct or relevant professional guidelines and for a defined group of patients and take responsibility for:

e) To be the designated practitioner to look after patient pre and second stage post-anaesthesia in the recovery/ward area.

f) To develop leadership skills and experience in the management of the recovery room/ward area.

g) To promote and participate in the implementation of the Nursing & Midwifery strategy:

h) To admit, recover patients on second stage post-anaesthesia and discharge patients home as appropriate.

i) Work closely with the Theatre Manager and colleagues to ensure a positive cohesive environment is delivered, when rotating across all areas of the Theatre & Ward, completing all tasks to a high standard.

j) Demonstrates strong skills and ability rotating across Ward, Scrub and Anaesthetic Nursing duties.

k) To promote and maintain effective communication with both patients and colleagues across all departments within the Clinic.

Patient Care Responsibilities:

To promote a patient focused approach to care in collaboration with all relevant health care professionals.

To educate patients and their carers as required where a need has been identified.

To ensure that all patient’s clinical documentation is completed correctly by members of the theatre team.

To maintain a safe environment in the recovery/ward area.

To assist in the establishment and monitoring of protocols/care pathways for recovery/ward area.

To promote and maintain effective communication, both with all members of the theatre team and other professionals involved in the care of the patients.

To maintain patient confidentiality and ensure all staff understand the relevance of this.

Professional Development and Education Responsibilities:

Responsible for ensuring annual mandatory e-learning training is kept up to date and attending any additional training to develop skills for the role, including manual handling training.

Attend any additional training and CPD learning hours in order to maintain RN PIN registration.

Research and Development Responsibilities:

To promote nursing and theatre practice in line with relevant research.

To contribute to research and development programmes within the theatre environment.

Audit, Quality and Risk Management Responsibilities:

To assist in the setting and monitoring of measurable standards of care in the recover/ward area and be accountable for maintaining standards.

To maintain awareness of national, professional and local quality issues relevant to delivery of patient care.

To uphold quality initiatives that improves ‘customer care’ and enhance the interface between staff, patients and visitors.

To identify potential risks for all personnel, patients and visitors, taking appropriate action/advice.

To promote the role of recovery practitioner in handling complaints in accordance with local policy.

Wear appropriate PPE/uniforms or scrubs when the clinical setting and adhere to good hand washing and hygiene best practice

To maintain a clean and safe environment in the recovery/ward area.
