A Local Authority based in West Yorkshire is looking for a Principal Engineer to join their team. This is a full time, temporary position and the successful candidate will hold a Degree or Master in Civil Engineering or related discipline or proven ability to work at that level and ideally extensive experience in a similar role. The purpose of the role is to work as part of a planned maintenance team designing and delivering highway maintenance schemes across West Yorkshire highways. The role will include liaising with other principal engineers in order to delivery the project which involves remediation to underlying failed embankment, highway drainage, culverts and reconstruction of the road and supporting infrastructure. Main responsibilities include: Your role will be as a Principal Engineer working in the Planned Maintenance team designing and delivering highway maintenance schemes. You will work alongside other Principal Engineers and together you will manage and mentor/supervise Senior Engineers and Engineers in the course of your work. You will fulfil the role of duty holder in the Construction (Design and Management) Regulations 2015, in particular, Designer and Principle Designer. You will be leading and managing the performance of site based workforce across planned, reactive, drainage and street lighting works, during our evening, night and flexible working models. Experience and qualifications: Hold a Degree or Master in Civil Engineering or related discipline or proven ability to work at that level. Have the competence to use IT systems including, Microsoft Office suite, GIS based mapping systems, and an understanding of AutoCAD. Technical knowledge and understanding for a range highway related schemes including safety, legislative, regulatory, and legal requirements, as well as contractual, industry standards, policy and relevant procedures and protocols and knowledge of how local government operates. The client is looking to move quickly with this role and as such are negotiable on rate dependant on experience and qualifications.
