Penhow ward is a 24 bedded ward currently focusing on providing rehabilitation and complex specialist discharging for our Newport residents. On admission to our unit, we work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary and local authority colleagues to assist patients in setting their goals, and supporting them to achieve these prior to discharge. We pride ourselves on our ability to recognise the strengths of individual staff and have worked hard to create a professional and sensitive environments where patients, relatives and colleagues are treated with courtesy and respect.

Complex discharge planning and rehabilitation are important aspects of specialist care which if neglected or rushed can have significant consequences for the patient and their family.. Efficiency and collaboration during these processes are critical to the patient care experience and promotion of safe, high quality care. Therefore we require someone who is dynamic and innovative, with good communication skills to support the team here at St Woolos.

We are seeking applications from suitably skilled staff nurses who are ambitious and possess a professional, compassionate and caring attitude. We would like to hear from you if you are a student nurse looking for an opportunity to develop your nursing skills in an environment where you can be supported by a team of experienced staff. We are more than happy to coach and mentor newly qualified staff nurses through their Preceptorship and the Journey of Excellence developmental (JOE) Programme.

The ability to speak Welsh is desirable for this post; Welsh and/or English speakers are equally welcome to apply.
