Our Trust Vision is Working Together to drive excellence in care for our patients and communties.
The Radiotherapy Physics Section of the Portsmouth Medical Physics Department is seeking to appoint a Radiographer, or Dosimetrist, to join the established, friendly and enthusiastic team of 19 staff. The post has been established to undertake specialist contouring of radiotherapy images instead of, and under close supervision from, Consultant Clinical Oncologists (CCOs) and for service developments initially related to auto-contouring. This post would also contribute to the dosimetric treatment planning service provided by the Radiotherapy Physics Section, and cover other service functions, as appropriate. Close working between radiotherapy physics and the oncology department would be required. The post holder would also undertake development projects, depending on the experience and aspirations of the successful candidates. Experience of radiotherapy treatment planning and contouring would be an advantage.
The radiotherapy department is half-way through a replacement programme of its four linacs, having installed two state-of-the-art Trubeam linacs over the last 6 months; a great time to join the team and take part in this project, optimising the use of 6dof couches, 4DCBCT, etc. The department has Pinnacle, Prosoma, Diamond and Compass systems. Seed LDR brachytherapy, Co-60 HDR brachytherapy and kV treatments are also undertaken. The department has good links with Universities of Surrey and Portsmouth.
Portsmouth is an attractive and historical seaside city with an enviable south coast location opposite the Isle of Wight, with mild sunny climate, miles of beaches, many cultural, sporting and leisure amenities. Applications from job seekers who require Tier 2 sponsorship to work in the UK are welcome and will be considered alongside all other applications. However, non-EEA candidates may not be appointed to a post if a suitably qualified, experienced and skilled EU/EEA candidate is available to take up the post as the employing body is unlikely, in these circumstances, to satisfy the Resident Labour Market Test. The UK Visas and Immigration department requires employers to complete this test to show that no suitably qualified EEA or EU worker can fill the post. From 6 April 2017, Tier 2 skilled worker applicants, applying for entry clearance into the UK, must present a criminal record certificate from each country they have resided continuously or cumulatively for 12 months or more in the past 10 years. Adult dependants (over 18 years old) will also be subject to this requirement.
