Senior GIS Consultant

COSTAIN GROUP PLC Manchester, Greater Manchester Full Time
The successful candidate will have a solid background and extensive experience in geospatial applications, data products and solutions, preferably across the Transportation and Water sectors. The candidate will also have a passion for spatial data visualisation and analytics themes, including integration with other systems and capabilities. The role will require identifying opportunities to implement geospatial solutions and further engagement with projects across the business. Other opportunities for engagement include digital leads, business development, solutions architects and consultants across sectors to identify internal and external opportunities.

The role will provide opportunities to learn new skills and work with different in-house teams from several disciplines to deliver innovative solutions.

The ideal candidate will:

• Develop client facing opportunities and act as a trusted client advisor

• Understand client needs, and provide technical advice and solutions for the client's consideration

• Advise project staff on all GIS related issues

• Keep up to date with business developments related to GIS and Data structures

• Provide GIS data management on projects to both internal and external clients

• Undertake GIS mapping, analysis, data capture, data management and geoprocessing.

• Deliver GIS support and data management within projects to high standards on time and to budget

• Keep up to speed with the latest and emerging geospatial technologies

• Willingness to travel to and work in any company office or client site

• Technical Skills

• Expert knowledge and practical experience with the Esri platform including ArcGIS for Desktop, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Online and mobile applications

• •

• Knowledge and practical experience of spatial analysis tools and ModelBuilder within the ESRI platform for implementing automated workflows

• IT literate with previous experience with Microsoft products e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint, PowerBI

• Experience with FME and/or programming languages (e.g., Python, JavaScript, SQL)

Qualifications

• Degree level or above in Geography, Environmental Sciences, Engineering, Computer Science, Data Science or Software Development

• MSc or equivalent in GIS is highly desirable

Skills and Attributes

• Knowledge of GIS, ESRI products, Open Data and an awareness of current industry trends

• Good communicator and collaborative approach with an ability to understand and translate business requirements

• Innovative thinking - seeks opportunities to add value through use of technology and data

• Ability to work well on own initiative and in a team

• Good presentation skills

• The successful candidate must be legally able to work in the UK and willing to travel to contracts and/or customers as required
