Job Summary

Location: SK102NA

Contract: Permanent

Salary: £21,000 per annum

Working hours: Mon-Fri (7 am-3 pm – can be flexible with time)

POSITION PROFILE:

The purpose of the role is to provide laboratory support to the Quality Assurance Department.

The Senior Laboratory Technician is responsible for ensuring all support tasks are completed to the correct standard.

The Senior Laboratory Technician serves as a point of contact for all tasks that they have ownership of and any laboratory support tasks.

The Senior Laboratory Technician seeks to achieve excellent customer service while ensuring that all laboratory support tasks are completed to agreed SLAs

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Carry out all laboratory support activities in accordance with Health and Safety guidelines and local agreements
  • Actively encourage safe working practices
  • Work to GMP standards at all times
  • Proactively delivering the operational laboratory support managing workload and service levels as required
  • Complete core activities in adherence with defined schedules and quality within specific areas, including buffer and eluent preparation
  • Act as Point of Contact for customers, actively engaging with them on a regular basis to understand their business requirements
  • Take ownership for specific tasks/areas and feedback any issues with those tasks to the team
  • Assist with Kanban management, reference standard management or archiving as required
  • Proactively identify and support operational effectiveness by process improvements
  • Data entry and analysis using packages including excel as required
  • Maintain records for equipment servicing and routine preparation to GMP regulations as required
  • Participate in lab organisational activities and Avantor team Daily Huddles
  • Maintain and organize laboratory equipment and consumables
  • Maintenance of point of use Kanban stores by daily replenishment
  • Provide key metrics in line with relevant goals and targets
  • Onboarding and training new members of the team
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Education/Training, Experience and Certifications):

  • Educated to Degree level in a Scientific subject or 2 years laboratory experience
  • Understanding of the importance of Health and Safety within the laboratory
  • Customer service experience
  • Proficient in Word and Excel
  • KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES & COMPETENCIES (Those necessary to achieve conformity of products and services)

  • Able to partner with other teams and suppliers to deliver results in a matrix environment, managing multiple internal/external partners and stakeholder
  • Excellent communicator at all levels and enjoys working as part of a team
  • Abilities and Competencies

  • Proven willingness to work flexibly in a team and independently with minimal direct supervision
  • Identifying, implementing, and sharing continual improvements

  • Proven ability to take on new activities in an efficient manner and to support and train others to a level of competency with the role
