Senior Legal Counsel

Overview Reporting to the head of legal, the role will provide legal support to the Fund Solutions businesses in London, Luxembourg and Ireland. The role will be a mixture of providing advice to the funds business and negotiating contracts to support the relevant businesses. Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Strategic Focus
  • Deliver on strategic transactions and initiatives (mergers, joint ventures, acquisitions and key deal activity)
  • Working closely with rest of international Group Legal team to ensure sharing of knowledge and harmonisation of practices
  • Operational Management
  • Prioritise and complete high revenue/cost saving and strategic commercial agreements
  • Negotiation, drafting, and reviewing of commercial contracts with key clients, delegates and service providers.
  • Providing legal support for the fund solutions businesses in the UK, Ireland and Luxembourg with the Head of Legal, Fund Solutions. For example, supporting new fund launches and changes to existing funds and providing advice on regulatory and governance matters.
  • Deal effectively with and advise senior executives directly on a broad range of legal matters including corporate, commercial, regulatory, financial services, employment, and litigious matters, retaining and managing outside legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Creating and improving legal processes, such as maintaining templates and harnessing legal tech tools to drive efficiencies
  • Advising business leaders on legal risks and issue impacting the business

  • Defend and protect the interests of the Company (litigation, IP, government affairs, compliance)
  • Providing advice on compliance and data protection issues to the funds business, including on UK DPA/GDPR.
  • Managing internal processes and ensuring proper stakeholder engagement and good governance throughout contract lifecycle. 
  • Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Minimum of five years post-qualification experience as a solicitor in a relevant field.
  • Experience of working in a fast paced international environment and managing a workload comprising multiple wide-ranging matters and conflicting deadlines.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to adapt communication style to a variety of stakeholders across the business.
  • Confidence to challenge the status quo when required and be proactive in suggesting different and new ways of working.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
