Senior SEN Officer 0-25 needed for Swindon Borough Council, £200 ltd per day

Contract End date- 3 months (chance of extension)
Hours per week - 37
Pay rate - £200 ltd per day
To manage the administration of requests and referrals for statutory assessments and to complete all statutory processes within agreed timescales. Management of all associated casework including the commissioning of packages to support placements and writing Statements of Special Educational Need for pupils within the Borough 0 - 25
•Draft and finalise EHC plans, ensuring these conform to the SEN Code of Practice and LA policy and to be an authorised signatory for EHC plans
•Support the transition of statements to EHC plans
•To advise the SEN Resource Panel and other LA officers on the procedures and processes in line with the SEN Code of Practice
•Plan and attend case conferences, child protection and annual reviews and meetings with parents relating to statutory assessments or case management. Attend multi-agency panel meetings e.g. Nyland BESD panel
What is required?
•Educated to degree level or substantial relevant experience
•GCSE Grade C or above in Maths and English and three other subjects or equivalent
•3 years' experience of work in a related field
•Further or continuing professional development
•Experience of working with Head teachers and Governing Bodies
•Evidence of a high level of IT and computational skills
•Understanding of current issues and legislation relating to special education, disability and inclusion
•Working knowledge of the National Curriculum, personalised learning and school assessment processes
•An understanding of the educational implications of the full range of special educational needs (SEN) from 0 - 25 years
•To maintain a thorough knowledge of SEN legislation and practice in the SEN arena
•Ability to interpret the specialist reports of a wide range of professionals covering the full range of special educational needs relating to the 0 - 25 age range (e.g. Educational Psychologist, Speech and Language Therapist, Psychiatrist)
