Summary

Looking for the next stage of your career - Team Leader maybe? Do you have experience supporting people with learning disabilities?

We love what we do and are recognised as an Award Winning Charity for our passion and dedication. Why not join us as a Senior Support Worker and be a part of helping others live lives that make sense to them.

Please note, we can only accept applications from males for this role due to the operational requirements of the service.*

Outline

We are seeking a fun loving, caring and passionate Senior Support Worker to help support our young man to live as independently as possible whilst providing the care and attention he needs to live a life that that makes sense to him.

You will be actively involved in a wide range of activities including walking, arts and crafts and swimming, there is a range of activities in the garden: bouncy castle, trampoline, semi-rigid swimming pool through to the everyday living needs. There will also be some personal care.

Our young man is a healthy, strong and very physically able young man however, behaviours of concern can be displayed due to sensory and communication issues (which can trigger anxiety) but we will provide you with all the training and support you'll need to be able to react quickly should such situation arise. He lives in his own specially-adapted accommodation close to his family. You will play a key part in the process of helping him develop and grow, in conjunction with the staff team and specialist advisors.

As a Senior, you will develop rotas and deputise for the Frontline Manager. You will work closely with the staff team, encouraging them and identifying training needs, whether formal or by way of day-to-day coaching and reflection. This could be a stepping stone to further opportunities within MacIntyre - namely a future Frontline Manager role.

This is a full-time role (38 hpw) and you'll be part of a rota covering shifts across days, evenings, weekends and bank holidays.

What we need from you

You'll need some experience working with vulnerable people, ideally those with a learning disability. Perhaps you have been a Support Worker or Care Worker / Practitioner and are now looking to step up to a more senior role with more responsibilities and greater challenges.

If you have a particular interest in psychology or in working with people on the autistic spectrum, that would be a good fit.

The work is demanding and it's not for everyone but with the support of your colleagues the ultimate reward is the heart felt feeling of being able to see the positive impact you're able to have on anothers life and this is something that you'll never forget.

*You will need a full manual drivers licence (held for at least 12 months) and be aged 21 or over (for insurance purposes) to be able to drive the companys mobility car.

Who are we?

We are an Award winning Charity that has the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behaviour Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.
