Reporting into the Head of Travel Underwriting, you will be part of a dedicated team responsible for managing the underwriting performance of one of the UK’s largest travel insurance portfolios and tasked with growing Collinson’s travel insurance business globally. The role holder is expected to collaborate and support areas across the business including Account Management, Business Development, Finance, Data and Actuarial, , to evolve our products in order to drive profitable growth. Always with a keen eye on the balance between revenue growth and the potential for escalating claims costs, you will identify and implement controls to pricing and operational process, developing new ideas to ensure the business runs within the expected limits. You will possess a strong technical background in personal lines insurance with an intimate understanding of the travel insurance market.
What type of person are we looking for: This is a senior role with a focus on helping Collinson grow our travel portfolio profitably on an increasing global scale. An energized professional, you must demonstrate your knowledge of insurance and the travel industry, possess a passion for excellence and customer delivery and demonstrate strong analytical interpretation, stakeholder management and product delivery & implementation skills. You will require substantial insurance industry experience along with a track record of delivering profitable growth through external partners and internal stakeholders. The successful candidate must have the right to live and work in the UK. We are happy to accommodate the candidate going to Haywards Heath or the London offices however, travel into Haywards Heath would be required once a week. There is a flexible working model of working in the office 2 -3 days per week with the rest working from home.
How will you make a difference as a Senior Underwriter – Travel Insurance. You will have a minimum of 5 years underwriting experience, with at least 3 years within the travel insurance/assistance sector, preferably across UK and European markets. You will have experience at delivering underwriting profitability whilst growing a travel portfolio. Experience in bringing to market a range of innovating product and pricing strategies. Experience in a fast-paced and developing environment. Experience in juggling different tasks/projects and priorities within an organisation with multiple stakeholders. Excellent project management oversight experience and ability to coordinate delivery within a growing business Educated to degree level. Excellent analytical and organisation skills Successful influencer (internal & external stakeholders) and effective relationship builder Good business acumen, the ability to balance creativity with strong commercial delivery. Completer/finisher who adheres to deadlines Excellent attention to detail-analytically focused, data experience Good interpersonal skills Word, excel and PowerPoint skills (intermediate/advanced).
