Summary

Do you want to work for an award-winning charity? Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them with such activities as day trips, going to the disco or cycling?

You will be working as a Support Worker at two of our services in Wrexham supporting people with a learning disability. This position is only open to Male applicants* due to the service requirements. Ideally we are looking for a full-time support worker (38 hours per week) but we would also consider part-time for the right candidate.

About the Role

One of the services is purpose built complex supporting four ladies and a gentleman, where everyone has their own bungalow and private garden with a communal entrance hall. You'll be part of our staff team who are there to ensure the people we support maintain their own tenancies through day to day living tasks such as cooking, food shopping and any other household tasks.

You will be supporting with their favourite pastimes and hobbies; They have a range of interests including swimming, cycling, going for days out to the beach, walking, shopping, going to the disco, using social media and going to bingo. Each resident has a car and therefore all staff must be able to drive so they can access local facilities.

You will take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings, weekends, and bank holidays. Service pattern at one service is 7am-12pm, 12pm-5pm, 5pm-10pm. Staff can choose whether they work 5 hour shifts, 10 hour shifts or 15 hour shifts. Other service is a mixture of days and nights.

Some people require help with intimate care or medication. They can display challenging behaviour and require emotional reassurance and support. We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your line manager and colleagues.

The work can be challenging but also very rewarding with the positive outcomes you'll bring.

What we need from you

You don't need experience, as we provide a full induction and free training programme. People come from all different backgrounds from experienced Care Workers and Healthcare Assistants to trainees, apprentices and new recruits looking for a start in the Health & Social care industry. What's important is that you share our values, have a positive approach and are willing to learn.

It is essential for these positions that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, as you will be required to drive service vehicles.

Pay and Rewards

Part-time positions are pro rata. Salaries are dependent on qualifications.

£9.00 - Unqualified rate

£9.50 - Qualified rate (NVQ Level 3 or equivalent. We provide free on the job training to help achieve this qualification and pay rate)
