Job Description

Looking for a part time job? 16 hours per week work?

Could you support people with learning disabilities, helping them live life on their own terms?

MacIntyre is a award-winning national charity supporting people with learning disabilities. Our core belief is that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community.

We have a vacancy supporting adults for a part-time Support Worker in our Leicester Outreach service. This position is for 16 hours per week working some days, evenings and weekends.

This position is only open to *Female applicants due to the operation requirements of the service.

About the role

You will play a key part in assisting the people we support in our Outreach service to live as independently as possible. You will join in with their favourite pastimes and hobbies, helping them be active members of their local community. Activities might include bowling, swimming, going out for walks, listening to music, going into town, shopping or out for meals, visiting the Space Centre and day trips to other locations.

Because of the complexity of their learning disabilities, some people require help with intimate care or medication. They can display challenging behaviour and require emotional reassurance and support. One of the people supported in Outreach is also a wheelchair user and the general age range is between 35 - 40.

You'll take your turn working shifts on a rota, including days, evenings and weekends.

We will provide you with full training and with day-to-day help and advice from your Head of Service (Frontline Manager) and Senior Support Workers. The work can be demanding and doesn't suit everyone, but if it's right for you, you'll find it incredibly rewarding and valuable.

What we need from you

It is desirable for this position that you hold a full manual driving licence which allows you to drive in the UK, together your own transport which is insured for business use.
