Support Worker at PBS4 (Positive Behaviour Support)

Support Worker

PBS4 (Positive Behaviour Support) Oxford, Oxfordshire Full Time

Support Worker

(Known internally as Enablement Assistant)

Rate of Pay £10.20

Location: Witney, Oxfordshire

Shift Patterns: Full time/Part time, Days/Waking Nights, Permanent.

About the role

We are looking for an experienced support worker with a background in working with people who have a Learning Disability, Autism, or experience in supporting people with behaviours that challenge.

The person you will support is 43-year-old Martin who has a diagnosis of Autism (Asperger's Syndrome,) obsessive compulsive disorder and Post Traumatic Stress disorder.

He is extremely intelligent and enjoys making meaningful connections with people who are also able to explore topics like philosophy, meditation, mindfulness, and his many other interests with him. He values positive relationships and getting support from people he knows and trusts.

Martin is an avid fan of outdoor activities such as camping and survivalism. He enjoys martial arts, blacksmithing and making music (drums and guitar primarily). He likes his activities to have a purpose and has a clear sense of what he enjoys and what he doesn't.

He likes to live a healthy and active lifestyle and values locally produced food and avoids anything processed to look after his body and the environment.

Martin's OCD and PTSD can often get in the way of the things that he loves, as well as his day-to-day functioning, therefore he needs some support and assistance with activities and tasks that would otherwise be impossible for him, or take a significantly long period of time to complete.

Martin wants to succeed and to 'beat' the things that hold him back, he just needs the right team to help him do this, and to help him feel settled in his home.
