The feeling of supporting and empowering people with learning disabilities and autism to live a life that makes sense to them is the most heartfelt. And Seeing the difference that YOU can make is unforgettable...
We love what we do and are recognised as an Award Winning Charity for our passion and dedication. Join us a Support Worker (experienced or not) and you'll see why!
15-20 hour contracts available.
What you will be doing
You'll be joining our friendly team at our large supported living abode in Emsworth, Hampshire. The service is home to 17 adults (aged between 20 and 65) with learning disabilities, autism and dementia, who have a wide range of interests and hobbies. You'll work with them to help them gain more independence to live their best possible lives. Some individuals are more independent than others, while others need support throughout the day with all aspects of their lives.
In a typical day, you'll be helping people develop appropriate life skills such as shopping, cooking and managing their money. You may go with someone to the cinema, out for a walk, to a football match or horse riding. Some people enjoy gardening and others are into arts and crafts. You may have your own interests and skills to add to the mix.
If people get frustrated, they may display some behaviours of concern, but we provide full training to help develop positive behaviour and coping mechanisms. There is minimal personal care involved: some people need verbal prompts or someone with them in the bathroom to ensure they are safe.
Day shifts run from 7 am to 2:30 pm and the late shifts run from 2:30 pm to 10 pm. There is the occasional night to cover over holidays and sickness.
This really is a wonderful opportunity to help make a positive difference to someone's life.

We are an award winning charity with the core belief that everyone has potential, something to offer and a valuable contribution to make to their community. We use a person centered approach to keep the people we support safe, happy and healthy and to ensure each individual is able to live a life that makes sense to them. Using a Positive Behavior Support strategy ensures we see the person first, not their disability.
