Band 7 Sister/Charge Nurse

Ward B4: Colorectal, Breast and Gynaecology

We are seeking a strong Individual who has desire and ambition to lead a diverse and motivated team in delivering a high standard of care to surgical and gynaecological patients requiring surgical intervention, including laparoscopic or robotic surgery.

It’s an exciting time for the Surgical Directorate as not only are we advancing in the complex world of innovative treatments to manage a variety of conditions, we are also progressing with the merger of two Trusts to complete a clinical service redesign to ensure we deliver the needs and expectations of our East Dorset community.

There will be an exciting opportunity to develop and be leading on a more acute pathway for surgical patients being managed on the planned surgical care site. This higher level of care will advance the individuals skills in high dependency, and leading a nurse led team in safe effective care to our surgical patients.

Our trust has invested and currently completing a bed modelling reconfiguration programme that will enhance our surgical pathway with the added reward of all ours services working closely alongside each other on the same floor. The successful candidate will be working with the leads for our Surgical Assessment Unit, Day Surgery Unit and head and neck services as well as advanced nurse practitioners, to ensure a gold standard of care is delivered with great patient outcomes and experience.

As a Directorate we have commenced our own Surgical Fellowship Training Programme tailored specifically for surgical nurses, and allow our highly skilled professors, surgeons and nurses to impart their wealth of knowledge and experience to our nursing workforce. The successful candidate will be part of this exhilarating programme and will assist in carving development opportunities for their team.

The applicant must have a credible clinical background, a good insight into risk management, workforce management, and be dynamic with a clear vision for driving services forward and shaping the future.
